Punjab Government Announces New Winter Timings for Schools

The Punjab government has officially announced the new winter schedule for all public and private schools across the province. These new timings will remain in effect from October 16, 2025, to March 31, 2026, to make school hours more comfortable for both students and teachers during the cold season.

Revised Timings for Single-Shift Schools

According to the Punjab School Education Department, the new timings have been set differently for boys’ and girls’ schools.

For boys’ single-shift schools:

• Monday to Thursday: 8:45 AM to 2:45 PM
• Friday: 8:45 AM to 12:30 PM

For girls’ single-shift schools:

• Monday to Thursday: 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM
• Friday: 8:30 AM to 12:15 PM

Officials said the change was made to ensure that students don’t have to leave home too early in the cold weather while still maintaining full learning hours.

Double-Shift School Timings

Schools that operate in two shifts will now follow the new morning and afternoon schedules.

For boys’ double-shift schools:

• Morning Shift: 8:45 AM to 12:45 PM (Monday to Thursday)
  and until 12:30 PM on Fridays
• Evening Shift: 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM (Monday to Thursday)
  and 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Fridays

For girls’ double-shift schools:

• Morning Shift: 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM (Monday to Thursday)
  and until 12:15 PM on Fridays
• Evening Shift: 12:45 PM to 4:45 PM (Monday to Thursday)
  and 1:45 PM to 4:45 PM on Fridays

Implementation and Guidelines

All district schooling government (DEAs) have been ordered to ensure that both public and private colleges comply with these new timings. The authorities said the timetable has been designed to preserve a balance between schooling and fitness protection at some point of the winter season.

School heads have also been cautioned to take steps to keep children safe from the bloodless. They must ensure the right school room air flow and encourage students to put on warm garments to high school.
