Pakistan, Belarus Sign MoU to Send Skilled Workers Abroad – New Opportunities in 2025
Islamabad – Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation:
Pakistan and Belarus have taken a crucial step toward boosting employment possibilities for professional Pakistani employees overseas. Both countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the intention of allowing Pakistani experts and workers to work in Belarus across more than one key industry.
The MoU was signed in Islamabad by Chaudhry Salik Hussain and Belarusian Minister Ivan Kubrakov, with Aun Chaudhry and Talal Chaudhry in attendance.
Employment Sectors Identified
According to the details of the MoU, Pakistanis will be offered jobs in major sectors, including:
- Textile Industry
- Energy Sector
- Construction Industry
These areas are expected to be the starting point for cooperation, with possibilities of expanding into healthcare and other fields in the future.
Protecting Workers’ Rights
A key part of the agreement is the status quo of a complete framework to guard the rights of Pakistani workers in Belarus. This framework will make certain that the exertion’s legal guidelines are respected and that employees are treated fairly under Belarusian regulations.
Training and Recruitment Programs
The MoU aims to train Pakistanis for work in Belarus. These include:
- Labor Mobility Corridors: Special systems will be developed to manage the recruitment and movement of workers between the two countries.
- Professional and Language Training: Pilot programs will train workers in technical skills as well as language to help them adjust better to the Belarusian job market.
- Migrant Resource Centers: These centers will provide information, support, and guidance to workers before and after they move abroad.
- Family Support: Selected Pakistani workers will also be allowed to bring their families with them, ensuring stability and security while living in Belarus.
A Joint Technical Group will be set up to monitor the progress and implementation of the agreement.
Government’s Vision for Overseas Employment
Chaudhry Salik Hussain noted overseas jobs as key to Pakistan’s economy.
He further emphasized that Pakistan can provide Belarus with a workforce in healthcare, construction, textile, and energy sectors, ensuring mutual benefit for both countries.
“The minister also announced that from next month, it will become mandatory for overseas workers to receive skill training before going abroad. This step is aimed at improving the quality of Pakistani labor abroad while reducing exploitation.”
Tackling Illegal Immigration
Chaudhry Salik Hussain also addressed the issue of illegal immigration. He stated that the government, in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior and other institutions, is taking strict measures to prevent illegal migration. By providing safe and legal pathways for overseas employment, the government hopes to protect Pakistani workers from exploitation and trafficking.
