Meteorological Department Predicts Major Weather Change
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted a major change in the country’s weather this week. After several days of dry conditions, a new spell of rain and cold winds is expected to enter the country from the northern regions. According to the latest forecast, this system will bring a noticeable drop in temperature across many areas of Pakistan.
The department reported that today (Sunday), most plain areas of the country will remain dry, while northern and hilly regions are likely to experience cold mornings and chilly nights. Due to persistent dry weather and pollution, smog is expected to remain intense in parts of Punjab, especially in Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Kasur, and Multan. Citizens have been advised to wear masks and avoid unnecessary travel to protect themselves from health risks.
Light Rain and Snow Expected in Northern Areas
The PMD also shared that light rain and snowfall are expected within the coming 24 hours in northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Chitral, Dir, and Kurram Agency. Tourist destinations, inclusive of Murree, Naran, Kaghan, and Galiyat, may also revel in rainfall and light snow, making the climate less warm and of higher high-quality for traffic.
Meanwhile, Islamabad and Rawalpindi are probably to stay dry, however, bloodless, whilst southern Punjab districts will continue to face smog and dry situations. In Balochistan and Sindh, the weather will stay dry and bloodless, even though temperatures are predicted to fall similarly in the coming days.
Cold Wave Likely to Intensify
Weather experts have warned that the new spell of rain and snowfall should intensify over the following two days, main to a sharper fall in temperature. This may also help reduce air pollution and smog levels in major cities, offering some comfort to citizens suffering from terrible air great.
