BISP Launches Integrated Grievance Management System (iGMS) to Enhance Accountability
The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has launched the Integrated Grievance Management System (iGMS) to provide a unified and transparent way for beneficiaries to register and resolve complaints. This step strengthens social protection in Pakistan while improving accountability and service delivery for the country’s most deserving families. The system was developed with technical support from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
Official Launch Event
The iGMS was officially released at the BISP One Window Facilitation Center in Islamabad. President of ADB, Mr. Masato Kanda, inaugurated the gadget by touching the screen, accompanied by a high-level delegation. BISP leadership, together with Chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid and Secretary Mr. Amer Ali Ahmad, attended the release.
The delegation included several senior ADB officials, including Ms. Emma Fan, Country Director ADB, Mr. Keiichiro Inui, Chief Advisor to the President ADB, Mr. John Juhyun Jeong, Senior Advisor to the President ADB, and other dignitaries from BISP and the Economic Affairs Division.
Purpose and Impact of iGMS
Senator Rubina Khalid highlighted that BISP is more than a financial assistance program; it is a platform for socio-economic empowerment, especially for women. She stated, “Making CNIC registration mandatory gives women an identity, and recognizing women as heads of households reflects the visionary policies of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.”
She also shared that various initiatives—such as Mobile Registration Vans (MRVs), Benazir Taleemi Wazaif, Nashonuma Awareness Counters, Payment Services, and the Hybrid Social Protection Scheme—are being streamlined under the One Window model to improve accessibility and efficiency for beneficiaries.
One Window Service and Beneficiary Interaction
Secretary Amer Ali Ahmad briefed the delegation on BISP’s core applications, latest projects, and upcoming reforms. He emphasized that the One Window Service makes it easier for beneficiaries to get admission to help in a transparent, efficient, and convenient way.
During the visit, the delegation reviewed various provider counters and interacted without delay with beneficiaries. President ADB, Mr. Masato Kanda, also met school children enrolled in Benazir Taleemi Wazaif, spoke with their households, and inquired approximately the program’s impact on their lives.
Appreciation and Support
The ADB delegation preferred the super transparency and accessibility of services furnished at the BISP One Window Center. The event concluded with BISP Chairperson, Senator Rubina Khalid, presenting a memento to President ADB in appreciation of ADB’s continued support for the program.
This release marks a massive step toward enhancing responsibility and enhancing social safety services, making sure that BISP beneficiaries acquire timely, transparent, and green aid.
