All Schools and Universities Closed in Lahore
Due to the current law and order situation in Lahore, the education department has decided to close all government and private schools and universities in the city.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Education said that schools were told to send students home early because many main roads were blocked, creating heavy traffic and safety problems.
“Children were given early leave due to road closures,” the CEO said, adding that this decision applies to all public and private institutions.
Parents Notified About Early Closure
The Education Department announced that schools have started informing parents so they can safely pick up their children. Authorities are also working with schools to make sure there is no rush or transport problem.
“Parents are being updated,” said the Education CEO. “We are taking all safety measures to avoid any trouble.”
Meanwhile, the Higher Education Department also ordered all colleges and universities in Lahore to close. Punjab University released an official notice confirming that all classes have been suspended and students have been asked to leave the campus for safety reasons.
Exams Postponed
Punjab University’s LLB exams that were planned for today have been postponed. A new date will be announced later. However, exams scheduled for October 13 will be held as planned, according to the university spokesperson.
Public Transport Suspended
The Orange Line train and Metro Bus services in Lahore have also been stopped, creating problems for daily travelers. Bus operations at City Terminal, Rahbar Terminal, and other stations have also been suspended.
Mobile Internet Suspended in Twin Cities
At the same time, the federal government has ordered the suspension of mobile internet services in Islamabad and Rawalpindi due to security issues and ongoing protests by a religious group.
An official letter from the Interior Ministry stated that Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi approved this decision. The suspension began on Friday night and will continue until further notice.
Reports show that mobile internet is already unavailable in several parts of Rawalpindi as authorities try to maintain peace.
Section 144 Imposed Across Punjab
Separately, the Punjab government has enforced Section 144 for 10 days across the province. This law bans gatherings of four or more people in public places to prevent possible unrest and ensure safety.
The Home Department said the order took effect immediately.
