All Metro and Bus Services Stopped in Lahore and Islamabad
Public transport in Lahore and Islamabad has come to a complete stop. Metro buses, the Orange Line train, and other bus services have been suspended, causing big problems for daily passengers, students, and workers.
Lahore Situation
In Lahore, both the Orange Line Train and Metro Bus services have been stopped because of security and law-and-order issues.
Many main roads and terminals — including City Terminal and Rahbar Terminal — are also closed.
Thousands of people are unable to reach offices, schools, and markets as the city’s public transport network has been completely shut down.
Islamabad Updates
In Islamabad, the Metro Bus and CDA-operated bus services are also not running.
The district administration confirmed that this suspension is temporary but necessary for public safety.
Because of this, daily travelers, especially office workers and students, are facing serious transport issues.
Schools and Colleges Closed
Along with transport closure, the Education Department Lahore announced early holidays for all schools and universities.
An official said the decision was made because many roads are blocked and students could not safely travel to school.
The Higher Education Department also ordered that all colleges and universities in Lahore remain closed.
Punjab University has suspended all classes and evacuated students from campus as a safety measure.
Exams Postponed
The LLB exams scheduled for today at Punjab University have been postponed.
A new date will be shared soon.
However, the exams planned for October 13 will be held as per schedule.
Section 144 Imposed in Punjab
The Punjab Government has enforced Section 144 across the province for 10 days.
This means that gatherings of more than four people are not allowed in public places, neighborhoods, or open areas.
The aim is to maintain peace and public safety during the current situation.
However, this restriction does not apply to:
- Prayers and religious events
- Weddings and funerals
- Offices and courts
The government has also banned the display of weapons, public rallies, and use of loudspeakers during this period.
